Overview

Kilmarnock straddles Lancaster and Northumberland Counties on the southern edge of Virginia's Northern Neck.

The northernmost of three peninsulas on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, the Northern Neck is bounded by the Potomac River to the north and the Rappahannock River to the south. The area is literally surrounded by water and easily attracts those who love the water. Boating, sailing, fishing, crabbing, kayaking & canoeing, and swimming are all par for the course here.

Kilmarnock's mild climate, rural setting, and abundance of outdoor activities make it an attractive place to live and visit. In the winter it rarely snows, and if it does, it doesn't stay around for long. In the summer, the seemingly endless breezes help to keep things cool and with the countless possible outdoor activities, there simply is no excuse for ever having a dull moment.

There is a small town, slow-paced feel in Kilmarnock, however, "city life" isn't far away with Washington DC, Richmond, and Norfolk all a 2 1/2 hour (or less) drive away.
